Mya's story

Mya

Mya was born prematurely at 32 weeks and spent 5 weeks in the NICU. Shortly after we brought her home (both my husband and I are new parents), Mya would spit up after every single bottle. She didn’t poop regularly, and something about this didn’t sit right with me; talking to other moms, they said, “Oh, she’d grow out of it.” Days, weeks go by, and still she’s spitting up. One night she had something called Syndifer syndrome (it comes off as if it’s a little seizure), but simply it’s an episode that babies with acid reflux experience. Never was I so terrified.

Researching, they said to combat it, you’d have to keep your baby up for 30 minutes after feeding, burp regularly, and feed in an upright position (this is by far the farthest thing from the truth). Mya could not and would not eat in an upright position; she’s screamed, cried, squirmed, and sometimes even choked. After more reading, my husband found the side-laying position. Due to the reflux, Mya also developed Torticollis and a little bit of flatness on one side of her head. This was the only way we could feed our baby up until 2.5 weeks ago.

On August 13, 2024, I decided that after doing some research, reading reviews, and after a recommendation from my mom that I would make an appointment for my daughter Mya to go and see Dr. Prosper. Her story is long; even though she’s only been here for a short period of time, my daughter has overcome many trials, and with the help of Dr. Prosper, she’s doing even better than she’s ever had.

Not only can Mya eat in an upright position, she has had not one single spit-up or an episode of Syndifer syndrome. She falls asleep more easily; no more crying spells; she lasts up to 20 minutes on tummy time and having daily bowel movements. With the help of physical therapy and her adjustments she can hold her head up straight. She’s now on her 8th adjustment, and I couldn’t be more relieved and happy as a parent. I trusted my gut, and Dr. Prosper explained everything in detail to let you know what’s going on and what needs to be done to help your baby function as a normal baby.

Thank you, Dr. Propser; you’re absolutely amazing, and there’s always a difference in people who pick a profession for the money versus the difference you can make in people’s lives. You’ve shown us through your wonderful God-given talent that your purpose is to heal people, and you’re doing a fantastic job. Thank you for giving us our baby back.
